Olave Snelling, CEOLet me introduce you to who the Christian Broadcasting Council is, its officers and structures.

CBC is a largely voluntary run registered charity, and its officers work from home.

The Executive Team is in charge of the day-to-day operations of CBC, with Olave Snelling as the CEO, supported by Crystal Chamkhi.

The Executive Team is supported by Chris Cole working as a consultant to the Trustees (see below). The Board support the Executive by providing expertise and time to acheive projects and specific tasks.

Some of our members have told us a little about themselves:

 

 

JONATHAN BELLAMY  He is in his later thirties and married to Heather. They both work at Cross Rhythms. Jonathan is the General Manager responsible for the oversight and leadership of the day to day running of Cross Rhythms including it's radio stations, magazine, festivals and website. He joined Cross Rhythms 11 years ago shortly after becoming a Christian on a soul-searching trip to America. He has an ordinary degree in Physics from St. Andrews University and not much more since!
 



DONALD A. G. BURLING - Treasurer of CBC.  Born 1932. He is a retired Local Government Officer (Finance) - Diploma in Municipal Administration, a member of Isleworth Congregational Church. His background is in Brethren and Pentecostal churches and is the Borough Representative on Churchlink West London. He is a member of Council of Movement for Christian Democracy and a former member of Prison Chaplain's Team at Feltham YOI. He has broadcast on prison radio, plays the accordion and writes "Thoughts for the Day". He is the author of "Brain-Storm" (under name of Donald B Alexander).


CHRIS COLE  Chris Cole is Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Cross Rhythms. He was born in England, grew up in Canada, and returned to England for higher education. With a background in Marketing in Brussels and owner of a restaurant and nightclub, his first experience of radio was as a Programme controller on Brussels International radio in 1978. After a dramatic Christian conversion, he set up his own marketing business in Plymouth and, in 1983, broadcasting the "Cross Rhythms experience" on Plymouth Sound radio. In 1996 Cross Rhythms joined UCB and was officially launched in 1998, with a vision to reach the youth of this generation through contemporary Christian music and personal testimony. He is Chairman of CBC Ltd, the commercial arm of CBC, formed by the CBC founders in 1983. He is also the UK Regional Director for God TV.

 


 

CHALMERS DOBSON - Business Manager GNBA. Born 1945. Educated in Manchester, Matlock and Derby. After school/college he took a year out working with Project Evangelistic Crusades before a banking career. He retired from management in 1998. He is Treasurer to one of the first DARE steering groups in the UK. He joined Good News Broadcasting (Back to the Bible's UK office) early 1999 and is now the Business Manager/Company Secretary, having covered CEO duties from July 2000 to October 2002. His church background includes Brethren, with a Baptist background, and now attends Bawtry Evangelical Free Church.

 


 

CRYSTAL CHAMKHI - Executive Administrator & Event Manager. Crystal has worked in Christian Media since 1993 moving through different management roles as a Career Administrator. She particularly loves to organise and use her creative skills as an Event Manager. Crystal is married to Farid with a very lively two year old son, and works from home for CBC fitting around 'Mum' duties with not so secret desires to be a wedding planner too!

 


 

ROBERT IRVING - Vice - Chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Council. Educated in Zanzibar and England, Rob was converted to Jesus Christ in Malaya in 1960, during national service in the British Army (2nd Lieut.). He was a director of Christian Broadcasting Corporation Ltd in the 1980's. He seeks to promote the knowledge of the Christian faith, with the propagation of the Good News of Jesus Christ, through the media. He is presently an Anglican Reader. Rob was a Chartered Secretary and is now retired.

 


 

NORMAN POLDEN  Born in Hastings, England and becoming a Christian in his teens, Norman worked as a Chartered Engineer in telecommunications design and marketing. He also functioned as Treasurer in two churches. In 1989 he migrated with family from Bournemouth to Merseyside where "God led him" in 2000 to establish "Flame FM on Wirral", broadcasting under RSL (seven to date). Having taken early retirement to manage Flame full-time, Norman is convinced of the power of Christian radio, under God’s miraculous hand. They have recently been granted a Community Licence (see community radio page).

 


 

OLAVE SNELLING - Chairman of the CBC Executive Committee . Olave Snelling has a work history as a TV/ Radio producer, but has many years of experience in Christian Media as well as secular media. She is involved in many Christian organisations and projects as advisor and friend. Having worked on four continents in print journalism, TV, radio and film, as Chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Council her prayer and passion is to contribute to the proclamation of the Gospel to the nations.

 


 

ROB ANDREWS - CBC General Secretary. Rob is a solicitor specialising in commercial law.  His practice, Andrews Law Solicitors http://www.andrewslaw.co.uk is based in Shropshire, but has clients across the country.  He acts for businesses, business people, churches and charities. Rob volunteered for the position of General Secretary after being encouraged by God to stand with Christian media organisations to support them in their ministries (in prayer and in business support issues).  He is also a Trustee of Cross Rhythms and is on the management committee of Day One Radio, and is very involved with CCFON. Living in Shropshire, Rob enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 lively young girls, and watching as much football as he is allowed to!”

 


 

OBII PAX-HARRY - Women Arise. Obii Pax-Harry is an Apostolic Leader and International Conference speaker recognised for her cutting edge prophetic ministry.  She is an ordained Minister and Pastor and an executive member of the Christian Broadcasting Council of Great Britain and a trained and qualified lawyer.

Obii's passion is to equip, train and release believers into their Destiny in Christ Jesus.  She is the author of "Releasing the Gadites", "Breaking Demonic Cycles" and her latest book (published by Destiny Image) is entitled "Issachar Mandate".
